About

The Inspired Professional

Is the grass greener on the other side? This is a common thought amongst people who seemingly have great jobs. The Inspired Professional podcast was started to help people gain an insight into what might happen if you leave the security of a stable career and pursue something different. In a generation where there are so many options available, it can be hard to know if the path you’re on is the right one for you. What has become increasingly clear is that many people are unfulfilled in their jobs and have thought about leaving to pursue their passions. Each episode features an inspiring professional and their stories of how they stepped out of their comfort zone. It is often said that people will change careers over 5 to 7 times during their working life and sometimes all it takes is some planning, courage and to know that someone else has been in that same position before and succeeded. About the Host

Dr Cathleen Dong

Growing up, I was interested in everything from music to photography and had no idea what I wanted to do after finishing high school. After shadowing my own dentist, I decided to become one as I thought it would be a rewarding and stable career. After practising dentistry for a few years, I sustained a back injury which forced me to take a break from work and reevaluate my options. During this time off, The Inspired Professional Podcast was created. I wanted to talk to people who had made a leap in their careers and found something that really fulfilled them. Talking to family and friends made me realise how many people have wondered if they could try something different. There will always be a debate about whether you should live to work or work to live but I thought it might be interesting to record these conversations to help both myself and listeners gain a new perspective. I hope you enjoy the podcast and if there are any questions or if you know someone who would like to share they career journey please get in contact.
